d. March 10, 2022

Lucila Aviña de Morales was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She left this world suddenly on March 10, 2022, at age 77. She was born in Moreno de Valencia, Michoacán, Mexico to Ponciano Aviña and Florencia Mendez on May 31, 1944. In 1962, she married Daniel Morales and together, they had 8 children. Lucila was a very kind woman who adored her family. She valued her children and grandchildren and loved to cook for them. One of her favorite dishes to prepare was mole and she loved making tortillas in the oven that her husband built for her. She also loved making flour gorditas for her grandchildren. Lucila was known for her great sense of humor and her hilarious one-liners. She enjoyed listening to music, especially her “Rancheras.” She enjoyed gardening and was extremely talented at drawn thread embroidery and crocheting and created some of the most beautiful baby blankets and embroidered cloth napkins which she loved gifting to family members. She treasured her life in the “rancho” where she was born, but always made time to visit her children and grandchildren in the states. During her visits she always made sure she brought their favorite delicacies. She cherished spending time with her siblings and there was never a dull moment when she and her sisters would get together. Lucila enjoyed the simple things in life such as going for walks with her grandson, Diego, and going to thrift shops to browse around. She enjoyed her cooking the most; however, at times she would indulge in some of her guilty pleasures which included Hawaiian food and chicken nuggets. She enjoyed having breakfast at Denny’s and loved to snack on garbanzos, guamuchiles, and guayabas. She also loved wearing jewelry especially her stud earrings and her necklaces. Lucila lived a humble life; one that was filled with immeasurable love for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Lucila is survived by her husband of 59 years, Daniel; her children Berta (Carlos), Luis Martin (Cecilia), Sonia (Jesus) and Daniel (Marlen); 13 grandchildren, Liliana, Demi, Jaqueline, Luis, Joana, Vanessa, Anthony, Jocelyn, Diego, Valeria, Pablo, Leslie, and Alejandra; two great granddaughters Mia and Layla.
