PAULETTE V. SILVEY
Paulette V. Silvey, 79, passed away peacefully at home in Camarillo, Ca. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. She was born on April 20, 1942, the youngest of three children, to Paul and Magaret (Kelsey) Sorenson. She spoke often about the hard times her family had while growing up and but also many fond memories of living as an extended family with her grandma (her 2nd mommie), Aunt Norie, and Cousin Steve.
In 1962, she married Darrell Lee Silvey and moved to Kansas City, Mo. During their marriage, they were blessed with three daughters, Carrie, Lorrie, and Melanie. Being a military spouse, she relocated nine times from 1964 to 1985 until Darrell retired from the Navy and they permanently settled in Oxnard, CA until Darrell’s death in February 2021.
She was a full-time mom who will always be fondly remembered for her love of decorating for the holidays and birthdays to make it special. Her mother worked as an executive secretary to the Avon president, and she became a loyal customer and Avon Lady over many years. She had a love for volunteering and over the years was a Candy Striper at a local hospital, and a leader in Girl Scouts and Awanas. She had an artistic side and loved playing musical instruments, crocheting and entering her projects in the fair (winning 1st place!), and later in life making crafts for family and friends.
Paulette and Darrell were married for 58 years and had been through many joys and trials. They loved taking their children on many camping trips and road trips to Yates Center Kansas to see extended family. They were longtime members at South Coast Fellowship in Ventura and shared their faith through testimony and mission trips. Paulette’s greatest joy was studying and becoming a minister. She enjoyed being a prayer warrior for her family and the persecuted Christians around the world. She spent her last months in Camarillo in her daughter’s home after losing her "honey bear." She missed him terribly.
Paulette is survived by her daughters Carrie Weal (Paul), Lorrie Ammann (Les), and Melanie Anello (Josh); eight grandchildren, Aaron Silvey, Cade and Ella Ammann, Sean and Megan Weal, Sophia, Emmalie, and Joseph Anello; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Darrell, parents, sister Patty Anderson, and brother Michael Sorenson.
A graveside service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on November 8, 2021. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Voice of the Martyrs.
