Jorge Lopez

d. June 2, 2020

Jorge Lopez was born in Jamay Jalisco to Anselmo and Anastacia Lopez on December 19, 1955. The middle of nine siblings, his childhood was filled with wonderful memories of playing games and occasional mischief with his brothers and sisters. From an early age, he showed strong work ethic, assisting a local cobbler at age of 7. Blessed with a driven and supportive family, he would go on to epitomize the “American Dream,” coming to the United States at the age of 15 with the help of his eldest brother. He went on to Moorpark College where he met the love of his life and they shared 42 wonderful years together. They had three children- Jorge Alberto, Lizeth, and Alejandro, who Jorge identified as his greatest accomplishments. Jorge excelled in his career, working in biotech for over 35 years. Retirement did not slow him down, running his own dermatological manufacturing company, volunteering for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and over 25 years as part of the Camarillo-Autlan Sister-City Committee. Jorge enjoyed daily hikes, cuddling with his furry grandchildren, traveling with lifelong friends, soccer, dancing, cooking (including his legendary salsas), gardening and above all spending time with his family. His family remembers him as immensely generous and intelligent, with an unparalleled sense of humor and integrity. At times, he was a man of few words, but his chosen words often left a meaningful impact. He lived a full life and did it his way. He will be greatly missed and cherished by his family and friends.
