RoseMarie Park

d. March 19, 2020

Nov 12, 1934 - Mar 19, 2020 Rose Marie Park passed away on March 19, 2020 at age 85 in Ventura, CA. Rose was born in Hollywood, CA on Monday November 12, 1934, daughter of the late Wilbur Swift and Marcella Weatherwax. Growing up, Rose loved listening and dancing to rock and roll music and hanging out with her friends. This love of rock and roll would stay with her all of her life. After her graduation, she got married and moved to Ventura, CA. Once in Ventura, she worked for Sav-on Drug Store for about 20 years first in the photo-electric department, and then later in the pharmacy department. After leaving Sav-on she joined her brother in business for several years. Later she worked at Walmart for 7 years and then ended her career working for a local Thrift Store. Rose was known by those who knew her well as a huge Elvis Presley fan. When she was 25, she saw Elvis in concert and even put her hand on his shoulder! Later in her life she had the opportunity to visit Graceland, Elvis’ estate in Memphis, Tennessee. She was so influenced by him that when Elvis died in 1977, she didn’t stop crying for a week. The most memorable thing about Rose was her love and generosity for those she loved. She was always very sympathetic and caring towards animals, rescuing strays and always having kitties in her home. She would give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it. Every year for Christmas she would become "Nana-Claus" and made sure all of her grandchildren had a magical morning with presents even though she didn’t have a lot of money herself. She also enjoyed many hobbies such as knitting and crocheting, photography, playing cards, bingo and Chumash Casino. She loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit Vegas, and Chumash Casino. She loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit many places including Nebraska, Tennessee, and Hawaii. She had an especially memorable trip with her granddaughter Jeri to Hawaii and always wanted to go back to visit. Rose was a joyful, generous and sometimes feisty lady that will be forever loved and remembered. She is preceded in death by her late parents Wilbur Swift and Marcella Weatherwax. She is survived by her loving son and daughter, William and Denise Park; daughter-in-law Sandy Park; granddaughters Jeri Armstrong, Dana Park, and Krystal Park; grandsons Lance Park, Timothy Capritto, and Tyler Capritto; great-grandsons Justin Webber and James Beranger; great-granddaughters Hailey Beranger and Reagan Cooper. Services will be determined at a later time. .
