Obituary of David Martinez

David Martinez passed away peacefully at home in Oxnard California on December 6th 2019 at the age of 91. Born and raised in Olney Spring Colorado he graduated from Boone High school in 1947 went to enlist in the Marines in San Diego California he was a Sergeant who served 9 years and fought in the l<orean War. During his service he met his love of his life Frances Gallegos they married in 1952 and in 1960 they moved with their daughters from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara and opened up a restaurant business called Mexico City Las Casuelas on upper State Street for seven years. Later David worked for Dal Pozzo tires in Goleta then on to work for the United States postal service for 17 years. They lived in Santa Barbara for 25 years David and his wife Frances went down South to Oxnard California where he continued to work for the Postal Service. After retiring from the Postal Service he continued to work more so he went to The California Youth Authority in Camarillo that he loved. Family was the most precious gift to David he is survived by his wife Frances Martinez, his three daughters: Marygale (Gary Eriksen) Sandy, (Ingmar Monson) Irma (Tim Guenthart) Grandpa leaves eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his brother, Victor Martinez mother Mary and father Victor Martinez both parents from Colorado. Until we meet again Dad we love and miss you we hold you in our hearts you'll always be our Angel. Service will be held on January 22 nd at 10am at 1347 Del Norte Road at the Perez Funeral Home in Camarillo. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Servants of Mary 140 N. G.
