Mary Ann Crist

d. January 24, 2018

MARY ANN CRIST Oxnard, California With love in our hearts, we announce the passing of our Mother, Mary Ann Crist, age 79 on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, following a lengthy illness, with her family by her side. Mary Ann was born January 22, 1939 in Corona, California to Lino and Mercedes Sandoval. Mary Ann was the eldest of seven siblings and grew up in Oxnard attending Santa Clara Elementary and Santa Clara High School, class of 1956. Mary Ann was homecoming queen her senior year of high school and her beauty was still captivating until her last day. She attended Ventura College where she studied book-keeping which propelled her forward in her life-long career in the car dealership business. Mary Ann started her career at the Auto Club, followed by Berry Motors and Hal Watkins Chevrolet. Starting in 1977 and for the next 20 years, Mary Ann was the Business Manager for Weber Motor Company, managing five franchise dealerships. She was well known and respected in the car dealership world. Mary Ann was a trailblazer in a male dominated field and was tough as nails when she needed to be. At a petite 5 foot nothing and weighing under 100 pounds, she could have salesmen, mechanics, and dealers shaking in their boots. She had a true passion for her work at Weber Motors and enjoyed the friends she made while working there. Mary Ann divorced early on and married Guy Doug Crist, the love of her life. They were married for over 40 years and enjoyed sports, family events, and most of all, their grandchildren. Mary Ann loved reading novels and her library of hard covered books numbered in the hundreds. Mary Ann always dressed so elegantly and wore the most beautiful high-heeled shoes. Her shoe collection was truly amazing! Mary Ann was beautiful with her dark hair and red lipstick; a beauty like no other. Mary Ann followed her grandchildren to all their sporting events: soccer, baseball, softball, football and basketball games. She was their number one fan! Mary Ann always put others first; she was a true giver in every way. She raised two daughters and was always the first to support her parents, brothers, sisters, extended family members and friends. Additionally, Mary Ann was devoted to caring for her Father, Lino, her husband, Doug and her loyal companion, Buddy the Labrador retriever. Mary Ann is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughters Kathy Ramirez (husband Ray) and Christina Velasco (husband Alex), grandchildren Jenna Ramirez, Raymond Ramirez, Anjelica Velasco, Alex Velasco, Jr. and great granddaughter Makayla Ramirez. Mary Ann is also survived by her Mother, Mercedes Sandoval, her brothers Bill Sandoval, George Sandoval, Joseph Sandoval, and sisters Christina Rothrock and Michelle Sandoval. She was predeceased by her husband Guy Doug Crist, her Father Lino Sandoval, and brother Edward Sandoval. The family wishes to thank Maricel, Charmie, and all the wonderful caregivers at Golden Horizons who took such good care of her during the last few years in her final stages of dementia.
