Willie Glen Hervey Oxnard, California Willie Glen, 80, passed away Friday, December 16, 2011. He was born January 26, 1931 in Naples, Texas to Parilee Hervey and James Cannon. He was raised in Naples, Texas by his grandparents Willis and Pearl Hervey and attended Unionville School and later Graduated from Carver High School. He enlisted in United States Army in 1951; he was honorably discharged after being injured in 1953. Willie Glen who was known as “Red” to those who new and loved him, united in marriage to Erlane Boyd on April 27, 1954 in Dallas, Texas. He lived and worked in Dallas. In 1961, Willie Glen moved his Sister in Law- Marthareen and her children to Los Angeles, CA. Willie Glen and his wife Erlane moved to Oxnard and lived with the Wade Richardson family and in Church Parsonage until purchasing their first home on “F Street”. Willie Glen worked with Mr. Hubert Gaston doing carpentry work. He then worked with Voss Construction. One day he decided to go to Los Angeles and take the Contractor Licensing Test, he was determined not to return until he passed it. He returned with his General Contractor License and opened his own business Hervey Construction in Port Hueneme, CA on Pleasant Valley Road. He was responsible for building many custom homes in the Ventura County Area. Willie Glen Joined Bethel A M E in the early 1960’s and was a faithful member until his death. He actively provided service at the church, volunteering his time or White Truck. He was a loving and loyal supportive husband for 57 years. Red was a good and dependable Brother-in-law. He enjoyed watching Dodgers Baseball Games and was always ready attend a game. He was very loving with his nieces and nephews, and loved interacting with them. He is survived by his wife Erlane Hervey, Sisters-in-Laws Arvis James, Esther Lewis, and Jewel Boyd, special cousins Jerry Gaston, Billie Hervey, Curtis Richardson, and Precious Hervey and nephew Lakendrick Avlia (sisters son). He was preceded in death by his parents, only sister Gwendolyn Wallace, both brothers Bobbie Wallace and Paul Hervey, and a Host of other friends and family. Visitation will be held on Thursday Dec. 29 from 6-8pm at Perez Family Funeral Home 1347 Del Norte Rd, Camarillo. Memorial Service will be held on Friday Dec. 30, at 11am at Bethel AME Church, 855 south F st. Oxnard, and burial to follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park. Assisting the family with funeral arrangements is the Perez Family Funeral Home in Camarillo, 805-983-3457.
