William Robert Frantz

d. June 5, 2009

Our Loving Husband/Father/Grandpa went home to be with the Lord on June 5th at 6:20 pm after a long 9 month battle with complications that stemmed from what should have been a routine surgery. Bill was born in Galesburg, Illinois on November 8, 1936, to William, Sr. & Juanita Frantz. The same hospital his granddaughter (Lacie) was born at. He attended Alpha Grade School and Alwood High School, in Illinois, and graduated in 1955. In 1956, Bill married Carolee Murdock, daughter of Lee and Jo Murdock of Rio, Illinois in Ontario, California. Bill attended Chaffey Junior College in Ontario, California and graduated in 1958. He worked at the Department of Navy at The U.S. Naval Ordinance Laboratory in Corona, California. During which time, he was drafted into The U.S. Army where he served a deferment time of 6 months at Ft. Ord, California. Bill and Carolee had 2 children, a daughter (Dawn Rene) born on October 30, 1964, and a son (Todd William) born on January 19, 1967. Bill worked in Corona until 1968 and then transferred to Point Mugu Pacific Missile Test Center, Department of Defense. In 1975, Bill married Linda Lawrence, daughter of C. Wayne and Velma Lawrence of Camarillo, California. Bill and Linda would have been married for 34 years this next month. Linda was employed by PVSD and taught 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade over a period of 38 years, at Dos Caminos Grade School where Bill could usually be found helping out in her classroom after he retired in 1994. Bill enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a great fan of the USC football team and extremely disliked the UCLA team. Fishing was a great enjoyment to him with his close friend, Rudy Martin. There were many stories and laughs shared about some great fishing trips. Bill loved his family dearly. He was a man who always put others before himself. He loved us all so very much and showed it daily. Traveling with his wife Linda was such a joy in Bill’s life. He loved her dearly and enjoyed making her happy. Bill had a great relationship with his grandchildren. His grandson Brandon enjoyed hearing grandpa’s advice and hearing his knowledge on many walks in life. He has been a great influence on how to be a respectful, compassionate, and loving person. Bill is survived by his wife Linda Rue Frantz of Camarillo, CA, his son, Todd Frantz of Camarillo, CA, his daughter, Dawn Adkins of Princeville, IL, and his brother Mike Frantz of Monterey, CA. His grandchildren, Brandon Frantz, Lacie Frantz, both of Camarillo, CA; Justin Adkins of Ft. Hood, Killeen, Texas; Jordan Adkins, Caleb Adkins, Cole Adkins, Tiffany Adkins and Austin Adkins, all of Princeville, IL. Bill is also survived by a great-grandson, Joshua Lucas Adkins. There is so much of Bill that should be known by all, but most importantly is that Bill loved the Lord Jesus Christ dearly. Bill’s forgiving heart and caring ways have touched the lives of so many. The family thanks his many friends for visiting and sitting with him, for sending cards, and especially for all the prayers that were said for him.
