Wanda Rae McBride

Wanda Rae Usher McBride, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 25, 2015 in Camarillo, California. Wanda was born on July 17, 1938 in Los Angeles, California to Roland and June Usher. She married Bernard James McBride on December 19, 1959 at First Presbyterian Church in Alhambra, California. Bernie and Wanda had three children, Beth Alynn, Michael John, and Merridee Ann. The family resided in Alhambra until their move in 1970 to Ventura California. Wanda was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a member of the San Buenaventura Housing Authority from 1984-1989. Wanda also worked for the Employment Development Department of the State of California, in Ventura County as a trainer and case worker for 15 years.Wanda was a wonderful parent, and as a young mother to three rambunctious kids, Wanda made sure daily summer adventures to the beach were the highlight of the neighborhood. She retired in 1989 to be a full-time grandmother to her 7 grandchildren. In 1993 Bernie and Wanda had the opportunity to live in Cairo, Egypt for a year and before heading back to the United State they traveled Europe. Wanda always referred to Egypt as her second home. Wanda had a love of other cultures and a continual desire to learn. Bernie and Wanda retired to Mesquite Nevada, in until Wanda returned to California in 2012. While Wanda was in Mesquite she was the president of the Democratic Club of Mesquite and volunteer for Project Linus. Wherever Wanda lived she always strived to make a difference. Wanda McBride is survived by a daughter Beth McBride (Kellie McKeehan) of Grand Junction, Colorado; her son Michael McBride (Carole) of Camarillo, California, and daughter Merridee Pesce (Joseph) of Thousand Oaks and her grandchildren, Bryan, Benjamin, Bailey, Kortney, Kory, Alex, and Addie Leigh, her brother Charles (Barbara) Usher of Carmichael, California, and brother Edward (Suzanne) Usher of Santa Ynez, California. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Roland and June Usher, and husband Bernard McBride. There will be a celebration of Wandaís life on Saturday, July 18 2015, the details to be announced.
