Virginia Reed

Virginia “Gini” Louise Reed Ojai, CA Ventura Co. resident since 1967 Gini passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 91 years of age with her family by her side. She was born on March 13, 1920 in Altoona Pennsylvania where she also grew up. Gini was the only child of Mary Eloise (Cook) Herr and Louis Samuel Herr. She met her husband to be, Richard Reed, in the first grade and later they enjoyed 60 years of marriage together and raised five children. Gini was a very devoted wife and mother. Along with being a wonderful homemaker, she also worked outside the home for many years. She was an avid swimmer, loved to paint, sew, and knit. Gini knitted one hundred hats for the homeless each year for many years. She was very involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives and also active in her church. Virginia is survived by four children, Richard Reed, Michael Reed, Christina Taylor, and Timothy Reed; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Reed, her daughter Jill Webb and her grandson Timothy Taylor. There will be a memorial service this Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 11:00 am, at The Ojai Valley Community Church, 907 El Centro, Ojai, CA.
