“Violet Virginia Rochester”
Violet V. Rochester, 72, of Oxnard, California passed away Sunday October 24, 2010 at her home after a battle with lung cancer.
Violet was born in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland, On October 14, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Shedrick Stansbury and Martha Virginia Thornton-Stansbury of Centreville.
She attended the Queen Anne’s County public schools through her childhood. After her school years she moved and worked in Philadelphia, PA, Wilmington, DE, and back to Maryland in the late 60’s. She completed a home correspondence course in nursing in the 70’s.
In August of 1969 Violet married Harvey Kenneth Rochester. They loved and supported each other for over 41 years of marriage. As a military wife she lived in South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, and settled in Oxnard, California.
Violet is survived by her husband, Harvey, one brother Arthur W. Stanbury of Centreville, Maryland. Sons, Daniel B. Carter of Alexandria, Virginia, Rudolph R. Carter of Centreville, Maryland, Raymond L. Rochester of Burlington, Wisconsin, and Randy M. Rochester of Oxnard, California: Granddaughters: Gail Anderson, Kaya and Kiana Rochester, Domonique Rochester , Kiara Gibson, and Elena Davis. Grandsons: Daunte’vion Kievon Rochester, Nick, and Jareth Davis: and members of her extended family: Darryl Miller, nephew. Michele Miller, niece, and a host of other nieces and nephews, Bernard Carter step-son and Betsy Carter step-daughter: Three sister-in-laws: Dora Miller, Joyce Norfleet, and Iris Rochester of Philadelphia, PA: Other friends of the family: Mayesha Charlton.
