Most dearly loved Vilma Gloria (Zumello) Brunot left her earthly life and entered paradise on September 9, 2015.
Vilma was born November 24, 1927 in Greensburg, PA. She was the middle child of Alice and Joseph Zumello, who had immigrated from northern Italy. She graduated from Greensburg High School. She loved to dance! In 1956 she married Charles Brunot and moved to Richmond, VA. They had a daughter, Cynthia, whom she adored, and a son, David, who died in infancy. Imagine the joy of their reunion in paradise!
Vilma moved back to Greensburg in 1965 and worked hard to support and raise her daughter as a single parent. Together, they moved to San Diego, CA in 1971, where Vilma thought they would have better opportunities in employment and education. She worked as a hospital business office clerk for 23 years before retiring in 1994.
Vilma moved to Moorpark, CA in 2011, to live with her daughter's family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Though she had lived alone for many years, she adapted easily to the noisy, crazy house full of kids and all the activity around her. She was quite a character and could hold her own. The family was blessed to have her live with them for almost four years.
In her older years, Vilma enjoyed arts and crafts at "school", music, going out to lunch, watching her favorite shows on TV, and eating pizza. She was very attached to the family dogs, Zoe and Niko. She was a devout Catholic, prayed the rosary, and was comforted by evening prayers with her dear son-in-law. Her love, dedication, and strong faith in God made her a wonderful role model for her daughter, and those qualities now live on in her grandchildren as well.
Vilma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Thomas Malloy, and grandchildren, Ryan, Brendan and his wife Kristin, Jordan, Alisa, Trevan, and Kylan Malloy. She was preceded in death by her grandson Shane Malloy. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Alice and Joseph Zumello, her sister and brother-in-law Mary and Edward Morelli, brother Dante Zumello, and sister-in-law Helen Zumello. She is also survived by her brother Herman Zumello, brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Rita Zumello, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
A Rosary will be celebrated for Vilma at 9:30am on Tuesday, September 15th located at Holy Cross Church in Moorpark. Mass will follow at 10am. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Simi Valley.
