Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Ventura, quietly passed away with her family by her side in her home on Monday, September 5, 2011.
Born on July 14, 1933, she was born and raised in Oxnard. In her early years, she enjoyed being an aunt to all her nieces and nephews and worked for Pleasant Valley Lima Bean Growers and worked for Heublein Inc. (aka La Chileria) for many years. Shortly after her marriage in 1973 to John S. Mora, she became a homemaker and also did daycare from her home for numerous years carrying for children as if they were her own. She enjoyed life and had a distinctive laugh that she was known for. Her family and her countless friends were the center of her life. She was very caring and always worried about others before herself. She was known as the "Torta Lady" for her several years of making her delicious tortas for Santa Clara Elementary School and High School during the 80's and 90's. She touched the hearts of everyone that knew her and she will be deeply missed.
Ventura was preceded in death by her parents, Felipe Gutierrez and Andrea Avila Camacho both from Oxnard. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, John S. Mora of Oxnard, two children; Debby Mora Diaz (husband Paul), John G. Mora (wife Maricela) and 8 grandchildren; Destinee, Arianna & Johnna Ordonez, Bobby Cabrera, Tristan & Gianna Diaz, Andrea & John Anthony Mora all of Oxnard. Brother, Frank Gutierrez (wife Yolanda) of Oxnard; sister, Magdalen Gutierrez of South Dakota and numerous nieces and nephews.
