Shirley Fox

Shirley Jean Fox, 76, passed away on Monday Jan 10, 2011, after a brief battle with cancer. We were blessed to have been by her side. She was born in Ventura, CA on Feb. 23, 1934 to David and Vera Eggert. Shirley was a 1951 graduate of Ventura High School. Shirley married Ralph Fox and they started Fox Construction Co. Shirley was a homemaker and at one time owned Sunshine Beauty Boutique Hair Salon and did all the bookkeeping from 1977 to 1983. Shirley also was a volunteer bookkeeper for College Heights Church where she was a member. She loved all sports and always enjoyed her favorite team The Lakers. You knew never to bother her during March Madness! Shirley was a great cook and enjoyed serving others. She was a beloved mother and grandmother, known as Nana. She was preceded in death by her son Craig Fox in 2006. Shirley is survived by her two daughters Sheryl Gerckens husband Brant, Sandy Schomaker husband Greg, grandchildren Kelsey and Chad Gerckens, Jessica and Kyla Schomaker all of Ventura, and grandson Mason Martel. A graveside service will be at Ivy Lawn Cemetery on Thursday Jan. 20 at 11a.m, a reception to follow at the Elks Club. Assisting the family with funeral arrangements is Perez Family Funeral Home.
