Sandra Norris

Sandra “Sandy” Lea Norris, 83, of Oak View, California, went to her heavenly home on April 22, 2023. Sandra was born in Aurora, Illinois on August 9, 1939, to Donald and Eleanor Zander. The Zanders moved to Long Beach, California in 1949. Sandra met her handsome husband of 55 years, Walter Norris, in Anaheim, California, and they married in June 1958. Sandra was preceded in death by her mother and father, her twin brothers Donald and Ronald, and the love of her life, Walter. She is survived by her four children, Scott Norris (Lesley Hilliard), Daniel Norris (Debbie Lukas), Nancy Cole (Russell Cole), and Heather Norris (Elaine Frazier); five grandchildren, Jacob Kennedy, Sarah Berryman, Katy Lunsford, Cindy Hedland, Luke Norris, and Alex Norris-Frazier; and, six great grandchildren, Liam Kennedy, Merrick Kennedy, Cecilia Cole, Logan Berryman, William Hedland, and Bridget Lunsford.

The Norris family moved to Oak View from Van Nuys, California in March 1969, after they visited a family friend in Oak View. Sandra thought it was the most beautiful place she’d ever visited and knew immediately the family needed to move there. She enjoyed designing the family house on Watkins Way and also jumping on the tractor to landscape the property. She also held a variety of positions, including teacher’s aide, postal carrier, secretary, and she also had her own trailer parts business inside Valley Equipment in Oak View.

Sandra was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She was a caring, loving, and spiritual person who dedicated her life to the Lord and ensured that her children were taught morals, values, and an appreciation of all the opportunities they were given in life. Her smile and her joy for life were infectious. She loved reading her devotions, praying for others, and always putting others first.

The family would like to express their thanks for the helpful and loving care provided by the Artesian caregiving staff and Assisted Hospice. A memorial service will be held on June 10, 2023 at 11:00 am, 1290 Grand Avenue, Ojai (The Well, Ojai Valley Christian Fellowship).
