Sandor Mihaly Giezinger passed away peacefully in his sleep, in his Port Hueneme home, on the morning of June 1st, 2011 at the accomplished age of 80. He was born January 16, 1931 in a small rural village in Hungary to George and Mary Giezinger. Sam, as most people called him, lived a very rich and colorful life. He escaped Hungary after the Soviet invasion and proudly became a United States citizen in December of 1962. He settled in Ohio for the time being and then to California where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Northrop Institute of Technology. Sam diligently worked his way up from nothing to achieve every goal he set for himself. His dedication and charisma secured him a successful career working for the Naval Surface Warfare Center on AEGIS for 36 years. He retired in May of 2000 and spent the remainder of his time traveling, sailing his boat, and enjoying the company of his beloved family and friends. He is survived by his companion and spouse Betty Billings of Port Hueneme; son Peter Giezinger and wife Meg Giezinger; stepson Blair Alvarez and wife Kathi Alvarez; grandchildren Emily Simon, Rachel Simon, Scott Alvarez, and Brandi Alvarez.
