Salvador Uranga
Oxnard, CA
Salvador, age 80, passed away on May 22nd 2010.
My dad Salvador was born in Mexico City and moved to New York were he married my mother, and joined the US Army. He had a Masters in business administration. He lived in Mexico City most of his life and worked for a law firm as a controller. He then moved to California to be close to his immediate family.
In his mid forties he retired from his career and the corporate ladder to find a more meaningful as to what really matter to him, to study self-knowledge inspired by Jesus Christ words and a great philosopher named Jidu Krishnamurti. My dad never belonged to an organized religion, but had a religious / spiritual mind. He lived his life his way!
He was remembered as a kind and gentle person with strong convictions in life and the meaning of it. I especially remember him as a loving dad, and a great friend and my adviser. He was always there for me and always had a bright and new way of looking at things. He loved justice and kindness and could look at the big picture of any situation. He was a serious person for certain subjects and an eloquent speaker, but he also had a keen sense of humor. He liked following the stock market and current events and lets not forget foot ball soccer. He had very interesting ideas for solving the economy’s and environmental crisis. His paintings and poetry are a true reflection of who he was and expressed a language of knowledge, love of life and nature. He used to always tell me, this joy or happiness that I feel or as he called it "the silence", I would not trade it, not even if they offered me millions. It is truly a blessing!
He is survived by his daughter Linda and three grandchildren, Adam, Ashley and Katherine, and his first wife, my mom, Arazais and a brother and sister that live in Mexico City, Javier and Mercedes and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. His death came sudden and unexpected.
We are going to miss him dearly. He is in our Hearts! Love you Dad!!
