Ruth R. Reyes

Ruth R. Reyes, beloved sister, mother, aunt and grandmother, entered eternal rest on March 20, 2021. Born on the fourth of July 1928 she called Moorpark home her entire life of 92 years. Born just prior to the great depression, she understood what it meant to go without. The hardships of early childhood shaped the person she would become and the values she would impart later in life. Circumstances required her to leave school just after completing elementary in order to help care for her mother and six siblings. Although not easy, she would often recount with fondness stories of how her family would chase work in various agricultural fields and orchards up and down the California coast in order to survive. Family and service are the two things that Mom was most proud of. As she went on to raise seven children on her own she always made a point to make time for serving others. This service is most evident in the nearly 30 years she volunteered with Catholic Charities Food Pantry in Moorpark providing food, clothing and general services to those in need. Only the debilitating struggles of age that Mother was challenged with later in life would force her to stop. Mom is preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Petra (Rodriguez) Reyes, brothers Juan (Helen) Reyes, Delfino Reyes, sisters Ramona (Gilbert) Trejo, Lena Rodriguez, and son Mark Pedroza. She is survived by her brother Frank (Mary Ann) Reyes, sister Augustine (Frank) Trejo, brother-in-law Mike Rodriguez, daughters Yvonne Ortiz, Enedina (Anthony) Godinez, Petra Holguin, Linda (Ted) Rodriguez, sons Fred Garcia, and Juan (Maria) Solis, and eighteen grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held in her honor on Thursday April 8, 2021 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Moorpark, CA at 12 noon. A rosary will be held on Wednesday April 7, 2021 at 5 p.m. at Perez Family Mortuary in Camarillo. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that consideration be made to the Moorpark Pantry Plus in the name of Ruth R. Reyes.
