Life Legacy
Ruben M. Romo, 83, beloved grandpa, father, son, brother, tio, and friend went home to the Lord on Friday, June 9, 2017.
Ruben was born in Wyoming on March 17, 1934 to Santos and Maria Romo; he was the youngest son out of 7 children.
He served as an ARMY soldier from 1950-1955 where he proudly fought in the Korean War and received many medals and acknowledgements for his duty. He enjoyed gathering his grandchildren and telling them stories about what he experienced during those years. He was such a proud veteran, and enjoyed spending time with his fellow veterans at the American Legion & VFW Post #10049 in Simi Valley.
After serving in the Army, he then worked for General Motors for several years and various other jobs during his time. He and his wife (Eloise Rivera) of 61 years lived in Moorpark together where they raised their children and many grand children in the same house for many many years. He was a very well-known and respected man of the city because of his long time residency. Anyone who grew up in Moorpark knew Mr. Romo for his famous 1969 Chevy Pickup that he loved to spend time on keeping clean.
When Ruben wasn’t seen outside cleaning up his yard, he loved to relax in his recliner and watch his favorite t.v. shows like, The Andy Griffith Show , Everybody Loves Raymond, and Bonanza, while enjoying a piece of pie or root beer float.
Ruben was preceded in death by his wife Eloise Romo, his son Ralph Romo, his brothers, Julio, Gilbert and Tito Romo, and his sister Dora Munoz.
Ruben is survived by his children Christine Romo of Moorpark, Gloria(and Gustavo) Sepulveda of Moorpark, Liza (and Alfred) Oviedo of Bakersfield, Sisters Della(and Richard) Delgado and Josie Romo, both of Moorpark, 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, & many nieces, nephews and longtime friends who all enjoyed laughing at the sense of humor he had.
The family would like to thank the kind hearted staff at TLC Hospice in Moorpark for their dedicated efforts and comforting support they had given Ruben and his whole family as they stood by his side day and night. He fought his last battle and won victoriously by being reunited in heaven with his wife and son who now will forever be missed and thought of by many family and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 4pm to 8pm with a rosary vigil scheduled to begin at 7pm on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Perez Family Funeral Home at 1347 Del Norte Road in Camarillo.
Funeral Mass will be commemorated at 10:30am on Tuesday June 20, 2017 at Saint Paschal Catholic Church in Thousand Oaks at 155 E. Janss Road. A burial service to follow right after; will take place at Assumption Cemetery at 1380 Fitzgerald Road in Simi Valley.
“We little knew that day
God would call your name.
In life we loved you dearly.
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you
but you didn’t go alone,
for a part of us went with you
the day God called you home.
We’re left with loving memories
of the time we had with you,
and feel your love around us
in everything we do.
Our family chain is broken
and our lives are not the same,
But as God calls us one by one
the chain will link again.”
