Rosario A Luevano

d. December 20, 2012

Our Beloved mother, grandmother was called to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, December 20, 2012. Her three daughters were at her side as she peacefully left this world and entered her eternal residence. Rosario, Aunt Rose or Chayo, as she was affectionately called, was born November 6, 1927, in San Bernardino to Miguel and Michaela Arenas. She was a loving and devoted daughter to her parents. At the age of 22, she asked a tall, handsome man to dance with her at a church gathering in her hometown of Moorpark. It was love at first sight. On May 16, 1953, she married the love of her life, Ascension V. Luevano. They were married nine years, when he passed on June 28, 1962, following a tragic car accident. Her family consist of three daughters and two son-in-laws: Anna Luevano, Cecilia and Rocky Gonzales, Elizabeth and Kenneth Borjas. Her daughters are truly thankful for all her love and devotion in raising them. She is grandmother to six handsome grandsons, Rocky Jr., Matthew, Isaac, Andrew, William and Michael. She has one beautiful granddaughter, Sara. And four precious great-granddaughters, Alexa, Jayden, Isabella and Lily. She also welcomed and loved Nicole and Lizette who married into her family. Weekends and summer visits at her house was a favorite place for many nieces and nephews whom she loved. The backyard was enjoyed for many family barbecues. Rosario was gifted in design and music. She had an eye for interior design. She could create beautiful flower arrangements. She had a God-given gift to play the piano by ear and loved music (a gift which her grandchildren inherited). One of her favorite pastimes was going to the movie theatre, watching classic movies on the television and doing word puzzles. Because of her love for jewelry, she often watched the home shopping networks to see the latest selections. She is survived by one brother, Ignacio Arenas; five sisters, Mercedes Sandoval, Josephine Arenas, Lupe Sanchez, Dolores Castro and Irene Carranza; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her oldest sister, Dorothy Ramirez and brothers, Jesus and William Arenas. A mass for Rosario will be on Friday December 28, 2012 10 a.m. at Santa Clara Church located at 323 S. E. Street in Oxnard. Immediately following mass refreshments will be served at The Perez Family Funeral Home, with a memorial service beginning at 12 noon located at 1347 Del Norte Rd., Camarillo. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery.
