Rochelle (Ro) Salvato
RO SALVATO, of Oak Park, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of June 29th, 2012. Her husband Richard of 43 years was by her side. Ro had a vivacious and sparkling personality with a smile that would brighten any room. She was the heart of her home and touched the lives of friends and strangers alike.
For over two and one half years, Ro fought valiantly against the ravages of ovarian cancer but ultimately succumbed to the disease. Even though the battle was lost, the victory was in her relationship with Jesus Christ.
Ro loved musicals, and also enjoyed singing, whistling and dancing. While living in Philadelphia as a teenager, she and her girlfriends would go to ‘American Bandstand’ to dance and be a part of the scene. She was extremely creative with great artistic talent. Ro’s passions included: painting, crafts, gardening and cooking. Ro’s culinary expertise was appreciated by her family and friends alike. She was a master in the kitchen and always curious to perfect a new dish. There was always enough to feed not only her family but also friends and those who might stop by. She enjoyed baking specialty items for holidays—as well as communion bread for church.
Ro will always be remembered for her generosity of spirit, compassion, thoughtfulness, honesty and quick wit. Although she never attended college, she graduated with honors from life, showing those around her how to truly live and love.
She leaves behind her husband Richard, daughter Karma Christine, son Thomas, grandchildren Trey, Tyler and Roco; and godchild Dylan. She is also survived by her sisters Carol, Honey and Carmie, and brother Anthony; along with many friends and acquaintances who loved her dearly.
A memorial service / ‘celebration of life’ will be held on Saturday July 28th at Calvary Community Church (5495 Via Rocas, Westlake Village, CA) at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ro’s honor to: Buena Vista Hospice Care, 143 Triunfo Canyon Road #103, Westlake Village, CA 91361.
