Robert Anthony Magana, 43, of Oxnard, California passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017. Born on January 1, 1974 in Oxnard, CA, he was the oldest son to parents, Robert B. Magana and Mary Martinez, both of Oxnard, California.
As a child, Robert was an accomplished scholar and athlete having been in the
Gifted And Talented Education (GATE) program during his elementary school years, and competed in the Junior Olympics in the Shot Put when he was a member of the Oxnard Stars Track Club. Robert attended Harrington Elementary School, Haydock Junior High School, and Channel Islands High School, where he was a member of the high school football team.
Robert served in the United States Navy as a Boatswain's Mate from 1993 to 1995, but was severely injured, and received an Honorable Discharge. Robert was a craftsman, chef, computer whiz, having graduated with Honors from ITT Technical University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Information Systems Security. Nonetheless, the biggest joy of his life was being the father to his two beloved sons Joseph Anthony and Nathaniel Andrew Magana.
Robert volunteered as a tutor, computer lab aid, youth leader, and chaperone at
St. John's Lutheran Church and School for nearly five years. He also helped coach the school's basketball team for three seasons. His love for sports and baseball allowed him to assist on his sons’ baseball teams. Robert’s legacy of being a gentle soul, while having the biggest heart will be missed but never forgotten. His hugs, his kisses, his tender voice is what will be remembered the most, and his desire to laugh and care for others is what we can all take away and treasure forever.
Robert is survived by his sons, Joseph and Nathaniel Magana; father, Robert B. Magana; brother, Mark J. Magana; niece, Raquel Magana; nephew, Tristin Nathanial Studer; step-dad, Eric Clampitt; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
