Robert Jerry Ingelido

d. June 19, 2010

Robert J. Ingelido -Newbury Park, CA Born 8/8/1933 in Pittsburgh, PA, entered into Heaven on Saturday, 6/19/2010. Bob was born to Julius and Gaetana (Bucci) Ingelido in Pittsburgh and moved with his family to Los Angeles around 1945. Bob graduated from Washington High School in LA and joined the United States Navy. He served his country for four years in the USN never once having to board a seagoing vessel. Dad was stationed in Alaska for most of his service time; he arrived and departed by airplane. In 1953 while attending a family wedding he mentioned to his mother that he would never get married. In February 1954, he was married to Vicky (Valeria) Brown in Seattle, Washington. They celebrated 50 years of marriage with a big party in 2004 and mom died in 2005. He was her sole caregiver until the very end. Dad was a hairstylist for many years in the South Bay area and later went to work for Hughes Aircraft. He started at Hughes in the mailroom and retired from Hughes as a supervisor. He was a hard working individual who ingrained in us a strong work ethic. A man of dignity, he was not afraid of work regardless of the status of the job. Dad had many friends and would, and did, give you the shirt off his back. He was a parishioner of Padre Serra Parish in Camarillo and an active member of the Knights of Columbus. In addition our mother, he was preceded in death by his parents and siblings and an infant granddaughter. He is survived by two daughters, Christy (Kevin) Niehus and Cheryl Ingelido; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer Bennett, Tom Niehus, Jessica Salcido, Tony Salcido, Robert Salcido, Michael Salcido and Christine Salcido; 3 great-grandchildren, Alexis, Ava and Vincent; a very special sister-in-law, Beverly (Carlo) Meyers; niece Dawn Powell and family; niece Jan Cumstay and family and nephew Rick Ingalls and family plus many, many other family members and friends too numerous to mention. Although we were not ready for him to leave us, we take strength from that fact that he is no longer ill and that he is with our Heavenly Father forever.
