Richard "Dickie" Ruiz, 72, of Moorpark, peacefully passed away Thursday, May 10, 2007, surrounded by his family at Simi Valley Hospital.
Dickie was born on April 3, 1935, in Oxnard. He was a lifetime resident of Moorpark, where he attended high school, built a home that still stands, and raised a family that brought him so much joy. He was particularly generous to those around him and provided an always much-needed laugh with his dry sense of humor. Dickie enjoyed staying home, visiting with his grandchildren, and cheering for his favorite sports teams. A retired auto body repairman, Dickie was remembered for his skilled work. He took much pride in his craft and passed it on to his sons and grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Raquel Ruiz; father, Pete Ruiz; and loving sister, Joanne Lima.
Dickie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Martha; and four adult children, Richard and wife Gizzie Ruiz, Donnie Ruiz, Lynn Ruiz, and Lisa Ruiz, all of Moorpark. He was the very proud grandfather of five grandsons, Richard and wife Susanne Ruiz of Simi Valley, Jonathan Ruiz and fiancee Lisa Alvarado of Moorpark, Anthony Ruiz and fiancee Monique Gamez of Moorpark, Michael Ruiz of Nevada, and Zachary Ramirez of Berkeley, Calif. Also his four great-grandchildren brought him tremendous joy, Marina and Alina Ruiz of Simi Valley, Logan Ruiz and Paige Ruiz of Moorpark. He also leaves his dear brother, Reggie Ruiz; and wonderful stepmother, Eugenia Ruiz, both of Piru.
Visitation will take place from 12 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, in the chapel of Rose-Perez Funeral Home, 4444 Cochran St. in Simi Valley. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at the Crossroads Church, 1925 Royal Ave., Simi Valley. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Holy Cross Church, 15550 Peach Hill Road in Moorpark. Dickie requested that he be cremated and interment of his ashes will be privately held at a later date.
