Richard Ordonez
Richard Ordonez, aka RO, our beloved husband, father,
son, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle
and friend left us suddenly on Sunday, July 28, 2013. RO was born June 1, 1950,
in Ventura and raised and lived his entire life in Oxnard.
He served four years in the United States Air Force stationed
in Korea and various other bases in the U.S. His last
position was that of a SSGT at Vandenberg Air force Base in
California. While stationed here he met the love of his life, Venida,
and shortly thereafter they were married in 1972. He was
honorably discharged from the Air Force the same year.
RO attended Oxnard and Ventura Colleges and received
his B.S. in business from the University of Phoenix in 2002.
RO started working for the United States Postal Service in
1972, as a postal carrier, later serving in numerous managerial
positions. The last two positions he held were that of Van Nuys
district manager for 10 years, followed by the pacific area manager
of delivery programs support. He retired in Oct. 2006.
Retirement provided him an opportunity to spend time with his friends- perfecting his piano skills, improving his golf swing,
and playing with the latest hightech gadgets. The ever sports
enthusiast, RO loved all things Lakers, Dodgers, and had a passion
for golf, and was known to have multiple devices on at the
same time not to miss a score while simultaneously conferring
with friends on a recent play. RO was a very kind-hearted,
generous, loving man who acted without ever expecting anything
in return. His quick wit and sense of humor will never be forgotten.
He was a devoted caregiver to his 96 year old father
whom he adored. He continues helping others even after his
passing by being an organ donor which resulted in assisting the
lives of at least 50 people in need. Richard is survived by his
wife and best friend of 41 years, Venida; sons, Ricky (wife Laura)
and Tim; father, Vincent Ordonez, Sr.; sister, Kathy Ordonez
(husband Abel De Leon); granddaughters, Destinee, Arianna,
Johnna, Bianca, Victoria, and Jacqueline; great-granddaughter,
Julia; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, inlaws,
friends, and his post office family. Richard was preceded in
death by his mother, Triny; and brother, Vince Jr.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, August
2, 2013, at Santa Clara Church, 323 South E. Street, in
Oxnard, preceded by a rosary at 9:30 a.m. A reception will follow
at Sacred Heart Church-Biedermann Hall, 10800 Henderson
Rd., in Ventura.
