Renee Weir
It is with extreme sadness that we say goodbye to Renee Weir, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, who found peace from her battle with cancer on Feb. 18, 2012, at the age of 71.
Renee was born in Manhattan, N.Y., on March 12, 1940, to William and Sally Greenberg. She met and married her husband, Thomas Girard Weir, on Nov. 25, 1961. She moved from New York to New Jersey after her first child was born in 1964.
In 1983 the family made the great trek cross-country from New Jersey to California to start a new chapter in their lives. After Tom’s death, Renee moved to Ventura and then finally settled in Camarillo where she spent her last 12 years enjoying life close to her two children.
Renee enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren at family gatherings, playing mahjong and bingo with her friends at Mira Vista Village, tapping some tunes on her player piano and collecting anything that had Bengal tigers and butterflies. Helpful, stubborn, opinionated, caring, loving and funny were all words used to describe Renee.
Renee is survived by her son, William Weir; daughter, Wendy Weir-Olson; son-in-law, Jon Olson; granddaughters, Heather and Amanda Weir, and Samantha Olson; grandson, Joshua Olson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Renee was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Thomas Girard Weir.
An extra thanks to all family and friends who prayed a little harder and helped a little more during these difficult times. Special appreciation to her nephew Robert Greene whose love and assistance did not go unnoticed.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, at Perez Family Funeral Home in Camarillo, 1347 Del Norte Rd., Camarillo.
