Rees Padfield

Rees William Padfield of Moorpark, CA, passed away at 80 years of age on 19 June, 2023. He was born 31 January, 1943 in Galesburg, IL. While enrolled at San Jose State University, he was married to his wife, Elaine. He earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in chemistry and was also enrolled in the Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. During his 23 years as an active-duty officer in the Air Force, he attained the rank of lieutenant colonel and received multiple awards and medals. After retiring from the Air Force, he joined Rocketdyne where he spent 18 years in multiple defense groups. During these years he became interested in Freemasonry and was raised a Master Mason in 2004. His work with the Freemasons continued until his passing and along the way he earned many honors such as 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason. Jokingly referred to as the “Great Pontificator”, Rees loved talking with people and always had an arsenal of puns at the ready. He is survived by his beloved wife Elaine; three children, Joanne, Renee, and Steven (Nicole); and three grandchildren, Jonathan, Logan and Mackenzie.
