Penny passed away in her home the morning of February 8, 2010 after a very courageous battle with cancer. Not only a loving mother and grandmother, Penny touched the lives of everyone she met. She is survived by her three children; Sher, Jonelle and Damian and also played an nurturing role in that of her 4 grandchildren; Jacob 15 yrs, Christian 5 yrs, Alexis 4 yrs and Max 1yr. Penny also had surviving sisters Patsy and Jean and brothers Ian and Gordon.
Born in Trinidad and Tobago to Gordon and Mauricha Ferreira, Penny’s distinct voice was well known in the community. She lived in Oxnard for 40 years and was a major contributor to the church, as well as, Santa Clara High School and Ventura College where her children attended. She was a loyal and hard working employee at Costco for 17 years and brought smiles to all who passed her window. Some of her best friends were those that she worked with.
She loved to watch the NBA and was an avid Charles Barkley fan! She watched almost every Laker game that was on TV but only so she could root against them and Kobe Bryant. When she had spare time she spent it in Orange County with her children and grandchildren and the pride she carried for them was never unseen. Her proudest moments came when all three of her children graduated with college degrees, when Damian had a great basketball game or when her grandson Jacob brought home a straight A report card!
Words cannot express how much Penny will be missed. She truly was a women unlike anyone else and gave her heart and soul to others.
