Patsy Joan Morton

Patsy Morton age 88, passed away on November 21, 2021 at her home in Moorpark. She was born in Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Virgina Crabb; the second of seven children. She was married to her husband William Morton for over 61 years. They lived in Simi Valley for over 35 years and then retired in Moorpark where she lived for over 25 years. She is survived by her husband William Morton, her sister Cheryl Christensen, her daughters Robin Sanchez, Marlene Walsh, Roberta Morton, and Michelle Morton, her son Marshall Morton, her 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Her request was “I want everyone to be happy. I lived a full life and I have so many grandkids and great grandkids, The Lord is good.” Our mom and dad took family very seriously. Always with us kids, going places, seeing extended family, cooking family dinners, camping, cleaning and of course ironing, mom loved to iron and clean, and boy was she good at it. Growing up if mom couldn’t sleep she would either clean, especially the floors, or move furniture around. We would wake up to the living room being rearranged overnight. Mom loved the Lord and the best thing her and my dad did was introduce us kids to Jesus and the church. When we were growing up we lived right around the corner from the church we attended. If mom wasn’t at home she was either at choir practice, bible study or gardening at the church. She loved taking care of the church grounds, pulling weeds, planting new flowers, trimming and pruning. She was a woman who was always upbeat, always saw the best in people, not the bad. She loved talking and meeting people, even if you only met her once you were her friend for life. She was truly a woman us girls looked up too. Over the years she would have falls, many of falls, many broken bones and many tumbles and hospital stays. She would always bounce back, she was one tough cookie. She would tell us that God was telling her to slow down, and we would say “than why aren’t you listening.” With all the falls she wouldn’t be able to attend church for a while. She served in guest services and greeted people as they came in at the door (which she loved doing), and all she would keep asking us was, “the church isn’t going to take my door away are they.” My mom loved worship. There are two special worship leaders that my mom loved. Sarah lynn who my mom loved and adored is singing today and Ilene Loop who unfortunately wasn’t able to be here. She sent us a music cd and the last two songs on my moms slideshow is Ilene singing. She loved the Lord, loved her family, and loved her church and friends. When mom became a grandmother and then a great grandmother, it brought a twinkle to her eyes. She was always helping out and doing what she could and loved it when the kids were around. She loved her looney tunes, Tigger and playing cards, which included a bit of gambling. I know she loved our dad, Bill. Another example for us kids to watch and learn from. They were married over 61 years, not an easy feat, and they looked out for each other and us kids. We will now look out for dad, just as she would want us too, and be there for him like he’s been there for us. We love you Dad! The pain and heartbreak that we all feel is unbearable but knowing mom is in heaven with our Lord and savior, and her family and friends who have gone before her, our hearts are happy as we know she is happy and is home with the Lord. I know as she stands before the Lord he is saying “ well done my good and faithful servant.” We love you and miss you mom!
