Patrick Bryan

Patrick Neal Bryan, age 71, of Moorpark, California passed away peacefully on December 25, 2023 surrounded by his loving family and friends.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and papa.  

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Lee Bryan; his children: Becky Hayden and her husband, Seth, and Tim Bryan and his wife, Penny; his grandchildren: Kira and Emma as well as his six siblings, dozens of cousins and nieces and nephews. 

Patrick was born July 2, 1952 in Pasadena, California to the late William and Dolores Bryan.  In 1968, he became a volunteer firefighter with Alta Loma Fire Department.  He graduated from Alta Loma High School in 1970 and was hired by Alta Loma Fire Department as a firefighter.  He was drafted into the United States Army in 1972, becoming a military police officer.  Upon being honorably discharged from the Army, he was hired as a firefighter with Salinas Fire Department.  In 1980, after a serious on-the-job injury, he relocated his family to Moorpark.  He continued to be in service to Ventura County for the next 30 years in the capacity of Animal Services Officer.  

Patrick had a heart for service and volunteering in his community was always his priority.  Over the years you could find him assisting with many youth organizations.  He was on the Board of Directors of Moorpark Little League; was a Boy Scout Leader and Scoutmaster for Troop 610; coached youth basketball, little league baseball, and volleyball; and was a founding member of the Moorpark Simi Valley Scholarship Association. As a fireman, Patrick participated in Fill the Boot and other fundraisers for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  Patrick also served in the community as a food pantry volunteer with Ruben Castro, a volunteer with his church, a Thanksgiving meal organizer, a volunteer with Ruben Castro Charities, and was instrumental in the formation of Team Wish.  

Patrick was also an avid sports fan. He loved ALL sports, but none more than his beloved Los Angeles Dodgers.  He began attending games in his youth when they began playing at the LA Coliseum and continued with season tickets through the post season in 2023.  Pat didn’t just watch the game, but he also played it.  On Thursday and Friday nights, you could find him playing softball on numerous teams and in various leagues.  He loved it so much that he didn’t stop playing until the age of 70.         

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 3:00pm at Cornerstone Community Church, 379 Science Drive, Moorpark, California.  Reception to follow immediately at Cornerstone Community Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Ruben Castro Charities (RCC) or Team Wish in Patrick’s honor.
