Life Legacy
Oscar Barrera Jr. "Junior" passed away peacefully in his home, after a hard fought battle with Burkitt’s Lymphoma on Monday, September 7, 2015. He was surrounded by family and friends that loved him dearly. Oscar Barrera Jr. was born in Oxnard, CA on October 30, 1963 to Oscar and Evelina Barrera.
He was raised in Moorpark, CA and graduated from Moorpark High School class of 1981. He worked in the technology industry for over 30 years and was currently employed with NuSil Technology, LLC in Carpinteria, CA as a PC Technician.
Oscar Jr. was an avid sports fan and faithfully enjoyed watching the LA Dodgers, San Diego Chargers, LA Lakers and LA Kings. He cherished the ocean and made it a point to stop by the beach as often as he could. The ocean was his “peaceful place”; a place of tranquility that gave him a sense of general happiness. An experienced bass guitar player, he jammed with friends
often, and enjoyed attending numerous music concerts with his loyal friends. His passion and love for sports and music brought him joy in his final days.
Oscar Jr. was a supportive and wonderful son making his parents and their well being a top priority. He was a loving brother and doting uncle. His family meant the world to him and he always made sure that they were taken care of. Oscar Jr. was a truly humbled man whose display of unconditional kindness is to be remembered and admired by all who knew him. He will be truly missed.
Oscar Jr. is survived by his parents Oscar and Evelina Barrera, sisters Veronica Sanchez, Lucy Barrera and brother Javier Barrera. Nieces Bianca Sanchez and Alyssa Ott, nephews Dylan Barrera and Erik Sanchez. Grandniece Elaine Reyes and Grandnephew Vincent Reyes; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in California and Texas.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of USC Norris Cancer Center for their relentless efforts and the continuous compassionate care that Oscar Jr. received. The family would also like to thank Vitas Hospice for the great care and compassion Oscar Jr. received in his final days.

A visitation for Oscar will be held on Thursday, September 17th from 5-9pm located at the Perez Family Funeral Home in Camarillo.
Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Friday, September 18th located at Holy Cross Church in Moorpark. Burial will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo.
