Olguita Gabrie

d. August 18, 2014

Olguita Gabrie Mom to many.......... Mom was a fun loving dedicated and faithful Christian. She was a member of St. Athanasius Antiochian Orthodox Church in Santa Barbara, CA. She was so happy to have a Church she could call her own. One of the happiest days recently was when we had our very first Church service in our newly built Church on Janurary 18th 2014. We spent the night in a hotel near by so we could do the next day Sunday Liturgy Service as her health was not to good she was afraid she might not be able to attend. By the Grace of God and her will she made this trip and enjoyed this beautiful event and mile stone in her life. Mom was so faithful that on the days she was too ill to travel she adopted two other Orthodox Churches; St Hermans Orthodox Church located 142 W. Wooley Rd. Oxnard and St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church located at 3100 Ponderosa Dr., Camarillo. She also attended her original Mother Church; St Nicholas Antiochian Catherdral located at 2300 W. 3rd St. Los Angeles where she was married in June 1956 to Constantino A. Gabrie.Olguita was born in Santiago, Chile and migrated with her family in 1945. to Lowell Mass. Once Constantino and Olguita were married in Los Angeles and had their first born son they decided to make Oxnard their permanant home by 1958. Constantino open a clothing store located in the heart of downtown Oxnard on 5th st. together they managed the store. Mom always brought Dad hot meals cooked from home everyday. That was her love; cooking and making people happy with food. She is survived by her five children; Constantino, Olga M., James, Daniel and Latife. and many Grandchildren. In 1994 her beloved Husband entered into the Kingdom of Heaven. 20 years later, she thought was long enough to be apart from her beloved Husband. She stayed here for all her Children as she knew we still needed her to be with us.
