Norma Conrad
Ojai, CA
April 22nd 1926 - January 13th 2012
Norma Conrad passed away peacefully at her home in the Manor of Ojai of natural causes at the age of 85 after a long battle with diabetes.
She was born to Winifred Giblin (RN and Hawthorne Hospital administrator) and Charles Lyman (mechanical engineer) in Inglewood, California.
A humble and successful businesswoman, she spent her early childhood on a farm in Kansas with her family before returning to California.
She married Clarence Conrad Jr. in 1949 in Los Angeles. She worked for Northrup Aircraft as an administrative assistant for 25 years before her retirement.
Clarence ("Duby"), her husband of 32 years, passed away in 1981. She moved to Ojai after retirement and remained a widow. Her brother, Edwin Lyman, and sister, Lois "Billie" Lyman, preceded her in death.
She was a devout Catholic and served the communities of Hawthorne and Ojai as an Eucharistic Minister for many years.
She loved golfing, traveling, crossword puzzles, reading, and Lakers basketball until ill health took it's toll.
She is survived by her 3 children, George Conrad of Ojai, Linda Conrad (spouse Jim Berube) of Ojai, Nancy McCulloch (spouse Dan) of Huntington Beach, niece Lori Fiori (spouse Bob) of Newbury Park, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
The family will be forever grateful to Dr. Fred Fauvre, The Manor of Ojai, The Gables of Ojai, Dr. John Nelson, Dr. Roger Phelps, and Livingston Hospice for their loving care of Norma.
At Norma's request, there will be a Catholic graveside service at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City on Saturday, February the 4th, at 11AM.
