Monica Meyer, 52, of Oxnard was taken home to be with her Lord on St. Patrick’s Day, Tuesday March 17th, 2009. She was the most beautiful woman a man could have.
Monica was born Sept. 12th, 1956 in Oxnard, CA to Nellie and Augustine Perez, who lived in Oxnard for 80 years. Monica attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School and graduated from Channel Islands High School in 1974, where she was a cheerleader and mascot. She attended Ventura College and then began a career in banking, which lasted 30 years.
In 1985 Monica married her longtime friend, Scott Meyer. They were blessed with 2 boys, Matthew in 1986 and Christopher in 1989.
Monica was happiest spending her days off watching her son Matt body boarding in local Surf Competitions and son Christopher playing football at Rio Mesa High and Ventura College. She loved hanging out at Silver Strand Beach and vacationing in Hawaii. Monica’s gift of hospitality was evident in the way she entertained her large family. She spent a lot of time helping her extensive circle of friends, and had a special bond of love and care for her brother Joe, the “Family Angel”.
Monica is preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her husband Scott, sons Matthew and Christopher; brother Richard Perez and wife Della; sister Patricia Frenes; brother Joe Perez; sister Gina Smith and many nieces and nephews. On Scott’s side Monica is survived by brothers and sisters in law Kurt and Laurie Meyer; Brian and Kathy Meyer; Jeff Meyer and Janice Tobin and many more nieces and nephews.
