Michael Wayne Pavone Moorpark, California Michael Wayne Pavone, 63, of Moorpark, California, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2014, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on September 14, 1950 in Huntington Park, California, the eldest son of Christopher and Yolanda Pavone. He is survived by his wife Susan and son Kevin in Moorpark, California; his brother Peter Pavone, wife Sue and their two daughters Jessica and Stephanie in Rancho Cucamonga, California; niece Chelsea Pavone in Haleiwa, Hawaii and nephew Nolan Pavone in Portland, Oregon. Mike graduated from Rosemead High School where he was a member of the varsity wrestling team. In his senior year Mike went to the CIF Prelims and advanced to the CIF Finals. After high school, Mike moved to northern California where he worked for many years at the U.S. Post Office. Mike retired early from the Post Office and moved back to southern California in 1989. He worked with his father in a sole proprietor toy sales business, eventually purchasing the business when his father retired. He married Susan DeGuardi on November 2, 1990 in Northridge, California. His greatest joy was becoming a dad to son Kevin in 1992. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a favorite among his nieces and nephews as Uncle Mike would let them into the toy truck to pick out a “few” things. Mike was very creative and would spin all kinds of stories for the kids - ok and for the adults too! He even had a special series, Bronco Billy, he told to his son. Besides his family, Mike’s passions were baseball, movies, and music. Ask him anything about these subjects and you better sit down as this was going to take awhile. He was an avid vinyl record collector and has 5,000+ records in his collection. He fancied himself quite a poker player and enjoyed playing with friends or at the local card club. He especially enjoyed road trips with his wife and friends to Las Vegas. Mike was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 9969 and enjoyed the charity work and fellowship this organization provides. Everyone who knew Mike has a favorite “Mike” story they enjoyed telling to others. He enjoyed life and was blessed with a loving family and many friends. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Mass will be celebrated for Michael on Saturday, March 22, 2014 located at Holy Cross Church in Moorpark.
