Mike was born on March 21, 1974, in Banning, California to Rick and Linnea Colston. He grew up in Yucaipa, California and graduated from Yucaipa High School. Mike married Demonica Gales on March 17, 2001, in San Bernardino, California. On July 18, 2005, their son Zeke was born, and on April 9, 2007, their daughter Ellie was born. During this time, Mike worked as a Campus Monitor at the local Junior High School and then in childcare. He also was a Sunday School Minister, Youth Minister, and Worship Leader. He eventually entered the coffee industry in Grand Terrace, California at Blue Mountain Coffee. Augie's Coffee House (2006-2008) was one of many independent coffee shops he worked at. He was also a consultant on all things coffee related. Mike and his family moved to Camarillo, California and operated/owned Element Coffee from 2008- 2016. During this time Mike imparted his love and knowledge of coffee to all who would listen. He taught people to appreciate a great cup of coffee. Element will always be remembered as the “Cheers” of coffee...where everyone is welcome! Music was a passion for Mike and he taught himself how to read music. He loved to play and teach others how to play the guitar. Mike's other interests included reading, cycling, and skateboarding. Mike loved Jesus, his family and people in general. He was always willing to help or encourage others. He never turned anyone away and always gave more than he received. He was truly a man after God's heart. Mike is survived by his wife, Demonica; his children, Zeke and Ellie; his parents, Rick and Linnea Colston; sister, Sara Heffern and husband Richard; and their daughter Claire. His younger brother, Gabriel passed away in 2010.
