It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Michael L. Casas, husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Michael was called to rest on November 8, 2024, surrounded by his wife, children and family.
Michael was the sixth child of seven children born, to Joe and Annie Casas on June 6, 1962. A lifelong resident of Santa Paula. He grew-up on Sycamore Street surrounded by childhood friends who still keep in close contact. He attended Santa Paula High School and graduated with the mighty, mighty Class of 1980.
Michael had a love for music having been exposed to music from an early age with neighbors like Jose Mora, who would play at his home for family gatherings. He loved Mexican music, contemporary music from the 70’s and 80’s like Carlos Santana, Malo, Tower of Power and Earth Wind & Fire. He grew to appreciate Mariachi Music and became a forever Johnny Cash and country music fan.
In 1981, Michael started dating Gloria Perez, who was the love of his life. After a long ten-year courtship, they married and started a family. Together they raised their two children Elisa and Stephen with the same values given to them by their families. They enjoyed taking the kids camping, fishing, and going out to dinner on Friday nights to Round Table Pizza or breakfast on Sundays after church to Chili Hut Cafe.
In 1983, Michael started working for Cabrillo Sheet Metal and began a lifelong career with the Sheet Metal Trade, Local 273 now 104 and retired in 2019. He made many friends during his time as a sheet metal worker and often pointed out the many buildings throughout Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles Counties that he had worked on.
