Melonie Cleric-Monier

d. November 24, 2013

Melonie" Nadinia" Cleric-Monier passed away, from cardiac arrest, on November 24, 2013. She leaves behind many loving family members, including her husband Laurence Monier, father Jack Cleric, mother Ann Cleric, brother Kerry Cleric, sister-in-law Denise Cleric, daughters Toddre and April Monier, nephew Lucas Cleric, niece Leanne Cleric, and close family friend Crystal, who was like a daughter to her. She also left behind many cousins and friends who loved her dearly. Melonie also known as" Miss-C ", was born January 25, 1960, in Jamaica New York. Her family moved to San Jose California in the spring of 1965. The family moved from there and eventually settled in Oxnard California. Even though she suffered from Dyslexia, Melonie graduated from Oxnard high school in 1977. Hairdressing was a passion with her, so she went to Beauty College. After graduating, and because of her talent, she almost immediately started working with the rich and famous. She did several movie hairdressing gigs, before getting a full time job on the Arsenio Hall Show. She was Arsenios personal hairdresser for many years. In 2003 she decided to change professions. She really enjoyed helping people, and decided to become a doctor. In 2008 she graduated from the prestigious Charles R. Drew Medical School, with a" Distinguished student" honor. She worked tirelessly, throwing herself into her work. She would help anybody who asked and developed many friendships out of it. Her last job was working at the VA hospital, where she took care of the many veterans of Ventura County. Melonie had many passions. But her biggest passion was animals. It didn't matter where she was or what she was doing. If there was an injured animal, she would stop everything to take care of it. She had many animals stay with her through the course of her lifetime. Most she found injured somewhere, and took them home. She would nurse them back to health, and then decide she could not part with them. Another passion of Melanie's was the Renaissance Faire. Every year, year in and year out, she was always there. She always dressed in purple, her favorite color. There will be a prayer said for her at mass on December 19th, 2013 at 7:30 a.m. and December 21 at 5:30 p.m. It will be at the San Buenaventura Mission. If you wish to come celebrate her life, there will be a memorial service on December 8, 2013. It will be held at 2 p.m., at the Perez Family Funeral home 1347 Del Norte Rd, Camarillo.
