Mary Behné (77) was born Maria Anna Zvarich in Rosthern, Saskatchewan in the year 1932.
She was the third of four children of Anna and Nicholas, both of Ukranian descent. Mary is pre-deceased by her two brothers, Walter and Emil. Her younger sister Rose, who attended Mary at her hospital bedside, resides in Calgary, Canada.
Mary was the daughter of a schoolteacher who taught in a one-room schoolhouse in the central Canadian town of Saskatoon. In her teens, she ventured to the gold-mining community of Flin Flon, then re-grouped with her family in the city of Toronto. Soon-after, she settled in Los Angeles, California, where she resided since 1958.
Mary enjoyed the Hollywood social scene with her brother Emil who worked as a cameraman, and she loved sharing memories of Hollywood during the 1960s.
In the mid-60’s, Mary was blessed with two witty and devoted children: Gregg and Audra. Gregg was later married to Meril, a loving daughter-in-law; they had two children, Brandon and Britney, who made Mary a proud Grandma. Mary was also thrilled when Audra and her partner, Betsy, brightened her days with two entertaining grandchildren, Jamus and Evan.
Mary worked several years for an Accountant and loved to host dinners at her home for friends and family. In her retirement years, she continued her avid reading of suspense novels. She was happiest with her beloved dog, Honey sitting at her feet, the TV blasting a Lakers game, and her children and grandchildren filling the room around her.
Mary was a devoted Lakers fan, and as a true fan, will be buried in her Lakers attire. She died the day after the Lakers won the Finals.
