Mary Figueroa Alonzo

On March 29, 2012, embraced in our Lord Jesus Christ arms and with the most radiant smile ever witnessed, our beautiful mother Mary Figueroa Alonzo was lead home to Paradise. Mama was born Jan. 21, 1928, to Miguel and Hilaria Figueroa. A lifelong resident of Oxnard, she attended Guadalupe School. She met and married Antonio S. Alonzo and together they raised five children. Mama always said what she meant and meant what she said. She was our sun and we were the planets orbiting around her. Mama loved dancing to cumbias and corridas, especially at her own birthday parties, of which were plentiful. Mamas 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren always brought a big smile, and no one could make chocolate chip cookies or tamales like mom. We all will truly miss her hugs and kisses, however, we are also celebrating her new position with our Lord and as we rejoice and as she too will be dancing cumbias and corridas with the angels and her family that preceded her. She is survived by her children, Joseph Anthony Alonzo (wife Bonnie Alonzo) of Camarillo, Steven F. Alonzo of Vista, Calif., Roy Alonzo and Mary Martinez of Oxnard. She is preceded in death by her son, Henry (Hank) Alonzo; brothers, Miguel and Manuel Figueroa; and parents, Miguel and Hilaria Figueroa.
