Martha Ruiz, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away
peacefully at home on Saturday, February 12, 2011.
The only child of Martin and Eva Rodriguez, Martha was born on July 29, 1935 in Moorpark, where she resided her entire life. From Flory School to Moorpark College, Martha attended Moorpark schools. She was married to her childhood sweetheart,
Richard Ruiz, for 52 years, until his passing in 2007.
Martha was a blessing to all who knew her, and she touched so many lives. She was very generous and kind. She loved to listen to music, dance, taking care of her plants and was an avid reader. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She had a lovely sense of humor that she shared with anyone around her. A devoted mother & wife, Martha raised her family until 1977, at which time she began working at Moorpark Pharmacy, remaining at Longs Drugs until 2004. Like her mother, Eva, who had worked at both Gunter’s and Moorpark Pharmacy for thirty years preceding her, Martha was always generous with customers, helping them to get the medicine they needed along with a little “chat”.
Martha was a faithful lady who knew, loved and served the Lord. She lent her wonderful cooking talents making tacos, burritos, tamales, donating time to Christmas Boutique, doing all that she could to support Holy Cross Church throughout her
life time. She was honored to serve as a Eucharistic Minister and an original member of the “Guadalupana” group.
Martha is survived by her four adult children: Richard and wife, Gizzie Ruiz, Donnie Ruiz, Lynn Ruiz and Lisa Ruiz, all of Moorpark. She was the very proud grandmother of five wonderful grandsons: Richard and wife, Susanne Ruiz, Simi Valley; Jonathan and wife, Lisa Ruiz, Simi Valley; Anthony and wife, Monique Ruiz, Simi Valley; Michael Ruiz, Las Vegas NV; and Zachary Ramirez, Berkeley CA. Also, the true joys of her life and who kept her going were her six great-grandchildren: Marina & Alina Ruiz; Logan & Masen Ruiz and Paige & Colt Ruiz, all of Simi Valley. Martha was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by her family as well as her many true and dear friends from childhood to neighborhood.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 17, 2011, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at Perez Family Funeral Home, 1347 Del Norte Road in Camarillo. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 at Holy Cross Church, 15550 Peach Hill Road in Moorpark.
Our dear mother’s legacy is the wonderful love and care she always provided to her family. She will forever remain in our hearts, leaving us with beautiful and fun memories to sustain us. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to family, friends, and neighbors for their concern, kind words, good deeds and especially the comfort of their faithful prayers during this difficult time.
