Marie Perchez Merjil, 77, passed away quietly at home, on December 27, 2021, after bravely battling ALS for almost two years. She was born in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, on Sept 10, 1944. She was one of 13 children born to Geronimo and Juana Perchez. She married in 1964 and soon after moved to the U.S. She lived in Echo Park for several years before she and her husband, Hector, worked hard to buy their first new home, in Fillmore, in 1974. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially during the holidays. She had a passion for singing and dancing, and loved telling jokes. She really was the life of the party! She had a love for fashion, flowers/plants and birds; and as an avid dog owner, she loved and took great care of her many dog companions, through out the years. She always donated to several children's organizations, as well. After retiring in 2018, she spent her time remodeling her home, gardening, and taking long weekend trips. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hector, and eldest daughter, Aracely “Ari” Larson. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Alonzo, son Hector Merjil (girlfriend Liz Peñaloza), daughter Denise Cardoza (husband Manny), son in-law Peter Larson, granddaughter Miranda Alonzo and grandson Isaac Cardoza.
