Maria Castillo Rios

Maria de Jesus Castillo Rios, 69, passed away on Tuesday, September 27th, 2011. Maria was born on January 1st, 1942 in Los Guerreros Municipio, San Martin Hidalgo, Jalisco, Mexico to Jesus and Salvadora Castillo. She married Antonio Rios in 1961. She birthed and raised eight children within the state of Nayarit and the state of Jalisco, Mexico up until 1978. It is then when her two oldest sons moved to California. Two years later, at the age of 38 (1980), Maria and her youngest six children moved to “El Rancho,” Moorpark, California to reunite with Antonio and two oldest sons. Moorpark is where she came to spend the remainder of her life. She was a devout Catholic who found great pleasure and comfort in prayer. Psalm 22 (23) was one of her favorite readings. She was known to always wish her loved ones, Que Dios te bendiga, (May the Lord bless you). She also enjoyed the beauty of the gardens where she was often found whistling while she tended to her work. She provided great warmth to her home and her family throughout her life. She lived a very humble existence but a very enriching life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and best friend Antonio to whom she was married for 49 years. She is survived by her 7 sons Efren (Carmen), Jesus (Abigail), Jorge (Delia), Raul (Cristina), Rosendo (Mari), Alberto (Judy), Alejandro (Annie); daughter Gloria; 22 grandchildren; sisters Silvina and Bella; brothers Fidel, Jose and Rosendo; nephew Antonio and Lidia Ruiz; Gerardo and Imelda del Rio.
