Maria Natividad Padilla

January 4, 1925 - August 12, 2023

In loving memory of our aunt, mother, abuelita and nana who passed away at 98 years old. She was so many roles to so many people who loved her and who she loved more. Her well-used phrase “Yo mas” was said to remind her loved ones that she loved more with her whole being. 

She was born in Pasadena, California and grew up in Zacatecas, Mexico without many luxuries. Once back in California, she was a seamstress who worked tirelessly to provide for her family as a single mother. Her hard work-ethic was shown in other ways like pulling out weeds in her nineties or walking up a steep hill with her grandchildren. Her love knew no bounds as she helped her family, friends, church community, and her Moorpark apartment community by providing friendship, food, or money. She was a devout Catholic at Holy Cross Catholic Church and she gave to various charities. You can count on her to pray the rosary or recite her prayers. She did not have many wants and did not want to possess many things for she knew what was important in this life. Her values were deep in her faith, family, and love. 

She loved and gave with everything she had and will be greatly missed. Her strength will continue to live through her children, grandchildren, and beyond. The world is a little more empty and a little more sad now. However, it is important to note that she would want us to be joyous in the fact that she is now in Heaven with our Father. Now, she can look down on us with the same love as before and be closer to us than we can even imagine.

A viewing will be held on August 24, 2023 in Moorpark at Perez Family Funeral Home from 2 pm - 7 pm. A rosary will be said at 5pm in her name. The address for Perez Family Funeral Home is 887 Patriot Dr #H, Moorpark, CA 93021. 

A celebration of Maria's life will be held with a mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Moorpark on August 25, 2023 at 10 am, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory and share the impact she had on our lives. The address for Holy Cross Catholic Church is 13955 Peach Hill Rd, Moorpark, CA 93021. Flowers can be sent in Maria Padilla’s name to Perez Family Funeral Home on Patriot Drive. The burial will be after the mass around 11:15 am at Assumption Catholic Cemetery located at 1380 Fitzgerald Rd, Simi Valley, CA 93065. 

She is survived by her children Felipe de Avila (Guadalupe), Anna Flores (Jose), and Jennie Kalal (Cris), and by her grandchildren Felipe De Avila Jr (Gabriela), Fernando De Avila (Nancy), Rocio Flores, Norma Olade (Antonio), Esmeralda Flores, Brittney Aust (Chris), and Ryan Kalal.
