Margaret Luna

Margaret C. Luna of Camarillo, 59, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and elementary school teacher, peacefully went to our Lord on Aug. 14, 2007, after a lengthy illness. Margaret was married for nearly 39 years to Peter J. Luna Sr. She was born in Ventura on Feb. 13, 1948, and lived in Ventura County all her life. Some of her life accomplishment included two master's degrees in education and administration. She was a knowledgeable and very dedicated bilingual educator and mentor to numerous teachers, who some are current principals, a dear friend and an angel. As an educator she demonstrated her love for teaching children in Santa Paula, El Rio and Pleasant Valley school districts. Margaret was also the recipient of "Teacher of the Year" award several occasions. She had a heart of gold, always willing to help in time of need or making time to talk about family, her students, or just sharing precious memories that were established throughout the years. In her retirement she spent countless hours learning and spreading God's word with family and friends. With her strong faith she brought many people back to the Lord including her mother. She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond M. Perez and Margaret F. Perez. Margaret is survived by spouse Peter J. Luna Sr.; sons, Peter J. Luna Jr. (fiancee Yenni Arreola), Raymond E. Luna; sisters, Esther Vassaur, Emily Ruiz, Josie Perez, and Sylvia Perez; brother, Johnny Perez; and along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20 at the Rose-Perez chapel located at Faith Baptist Church, 3300 West Street in Somis. A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church on the corner of Las Posas and Crestview in Camarillo. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 at St. Mary Magdalen Church. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard.
