Macedonio P. Pillado

October 18, 1931 — December 30, 2023

Oxnard, CA

Our Loving Dad (Papa), Macedonio Perea Pillado, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023 surrounded by his family as he entered into eternal life with our Lord. He lived 92 wonderful years and we will forever miss our handsome, green eyed Cowboy.

Macedonio was born on October 18, 1931 to Bonifacio and Refugio Perea of Jimenez, Mexico. He was the youngest of ten children. As an infant, his immediate and extended family migrated to Rocky Ford, Colorado and in 1939, they settled in Ventura County.

At the age of 19, Macedonio enlisted into the Army and served his country during the Korean War.

After returning from the Army, he attended a local dance at the Greenmill and met a very special lady named Ofelia Moreno. On November 17, 1957, Macedonio married Ofelia and together they raised three children, Yvonne, Ernest, and Natasha, in a beautiful neighborhood in Oxnard. They were married for 34 years.

Macedonio attended Carpentry school where he became a member of the Carpenters Union 805 on August 14, 1959. He retired on May 1, 1992. His craft was Finish Carpentry, specializing in door hanging and stairwells. He loved carpentry and took much pride in all his work. Friends and fellow carpenters have expressed to us throughout the years that he was a “Master Craftsman” and “one of the best door hangers.”

Our Papa had many horses throughout his lifetime and at 89 years young he was still caring for his horse Chico. Our Dad was well known as “Maxie” at the Camarillo Ranch where he had many years of friendship with Meliton Ortiz. Mr. Ortiz taught him how to rope.  Papa shared his love for horses and enjoying the outdoors with his grandchildren.

Prior to injuring his back in 2021, you would find him walking in our cul-de-sac, on the treadmill and lifting weights in his room. Papa loved to dance and always requested Suavecito at family events. He loved attending the Salsa Festivals, watching the Laker games and boxing matches with Ernie, and eating out at his favorite restaurants with us at iHOP, Yolanda’s, Henry’s Café and Denny’s.

Papa’s most precious treasures in his life were his three children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Papa loved his family deeply.  He was so proud of everyone and would light up every time he saw us. We will cherish our laughs together, his jokes, and listening to his stories of the past. We will miss hearing his words of wisdom and praying to God together. We thank God for gifting us with so many years and memories with our Dad and being able to watch him blow out his candles for his 92nd birthday.

Our Dad was a very respected and honorable man and worked hard to give us a beautiful life. He was a true gentleman and will be deeply missed.  He leaves behind a legacy of Faith, Love, and Strength.

Macedonio is survived by his children Yvonne (Vincent) Pimentel, Dr. Ernest (Leslie) Pillado, and Natasha (Carlo) Provencio. Grandchildren:  Vinny (Toni), Nick (Eloise), Raquel (Joey), Gabe, Erica (David), Brandon (Trista), Michael, Steven, Alexis, Elijah, Natalia and Giovani. Great-Grandchildren: Charlie, Chris, Vivian, Leah, Tyler, and Milana. Sisters-in-law Sally Varela and Tillie (Nena) Cobos along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and Papa’s faithful Guard Dog, Jack.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Niera and the Angel of God Hospice team Ahriz Diaz RN, Jacob Torres RN and Graciela DeGovea HHA for their kind and loving care for our Dad.
