Luis Franco Sanchez, Papa Louie, 93 passed away on December 24, 2013 at his home in Simi Valley, California.
He leaves his wife, Josephine, of 63 years and five children: Luis ( Leslie), Enrique (Janine), Benjamin ( Delores), Gricelda, and David ( Rocio), and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren and his extended family. Luis was a loving father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather.
Luis was born on November 1,1920 in Ocotlan, Jalisco, Mexico and was a life long resident of Simi Valley. He came to Simi Valley in 1943 to find a more promising life where he met with his wife, Josephine, and settled down to raise a family. Luis worked on Sinaloa Ranch for about 25 years then at Calabasas Park Country Club where he retired 22 years later. Following retirement, Luis kept active working part time until the age of 88.
Luis coming from humble beginnings and with a limited education continued learning and reading to improve himself. As a result, he always encouraged his children and grandchildren to get a good education and to have good work ethics.
He was a Godly man with an amazing amount of faith and he continually gave thanks to God for his abundant blessings. He taught his family the importance of maintaining family unity and holding on to family traditions. He was a man of his word, and always there to help someone in need. Luis loved music, dancing, and traveling. Even at age 92, he and Josephine would continue to join the annual family Pismo camping trip. He loved life to the fullest.
The Rosary and visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2nd, 7:00 PM, Perez Family Funeral Home, 1347 Del Norte Road, Camarillo. Mass will be held on Friday, January 3rd, 10:00 AM, St. Rose of Lima Church in Simi Valley. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
