Lisa Donley

Lisa Ann (Peluso) Donley, 62, of Moorpark, died Sunday, April 2, 2023.

 

Lisa was the beloved wife of Thomas Donley, to whom she would have been married 37 years on April 26, 2023. She was the cherished mother of Erin Donley and James Donley; a dear sister to Annette Gogesch (Richard); and beloved aunt to Alyssa Gomez (Rafael) and Michael, as well as godmother to Alyssa Gomez. Lisa was predeceased by her parents, Teresa and James Peluso.

Lisa was born on January 8, 1961 in Sharon, PA. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School in Sharon, PA and Kennedy Christian High School in Hermitage, PA. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Community Leisure Studies and a Minor in Business Administration from Slippery Rock State College, PA, and a Master of Science in Recreation and Leisure, Recreation Administration from California State University, Northridge, CA.

She was employed by the Conejo Recreation and Parks District; as Director of the Malibu Community Center; and as Director of Recreation & Community Services for the City of Port Hueneme.

Lisa enjoyed attending concerts and sporting events. She particularly enjoyed seeing Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Nicks at local venues in Southern California. She loved the Dodgers and the Steelers and was a big basketball fan. She enjoyed watching the NCAA tournament every year, and she attended the Final Four in 2017 and rooted on the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

One sporting event Lisa attended proved to be especially memorable. She invited her future husband, Tom, to the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. It sparked their interest in the West Coast, and they wound up making their home in Southern California.

A Celebration of Life and Mass will be held at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers, OH, at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 10, 2023. A second Celebration of Life is being planned for the fall in Moorpark, CA. Date, location and time TBD.
