Linda Rue Lawrence Frantz made her peaceful transition to be with her Lord on April 8, 2022. Linda was born at South Van Ness Hospital in Los Angeles, California on November 8, 1944 to Cecil Wayne and Velma (Hankins) Lawrence. Linda loved her parents deeply and often expressed her gratitude for all they did for her throughout her life.
Linda was educated in Lutheran schools her entire life. She attended Lutheran High School in Los Angeles, CA and then California Lutheran University, graduating in the third graduating class at CLU in 1966.
Linda married the love of her life, William R. Frantz, Jr. on July 11, 1975. They enjoyed 33 years of marriage until Bill’s passing in 2009. Linda and Bill loved to travel and were fortunate enough to visit many places including going on several cruises and travels to Hawaii and Yugoslavia to visit foreign exchange students that they hosted while living in Camarillo.
Linda taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade in Pleasant Valley School District in Camarillo, CA. She taught all 38 years at Dos Caminos School. Linda was famous for her math packets and mad minute multiplication tests. In addition to teaching her students reading, writing and arithmetic, Linda taught them all about compassion, respect and the rewards of treating others as you would desire to be treated. Over those 38 years she was a school mom to over 1100 students. She loved her job and talked extensively about her students.
Linda had a great love for reading – especially books about WWII. She loved doing word searches, crossword puzzles and coloring. She loved a great romance movie and loved her Hallmark movie channel. She enjoyed the coffee time, Bible studies and lunches with friends and conveyed her thanks for the many visits, cards and especially prayers that were sent for her. Linda also enjoyed music and sang in the choir and served as a Stephen Ministry Leader at Mt. Cross Lutheran Church. Linda had a love for animals and loved her special poodles, Misty and Scarlet.
A special thanks to Dr. Sherilyn Wheaton, Mission Palliative and Hospice Care and Home Sweet Home in Ventura for their compassionate care to Linda. Her absence will be felt by all who knew and loved her but her witty sense of humor will be with us in our hearts and minds forever.
A memorial service for Linda will be held at Mt. Cross Lutheran Church, 102 Camino Esplendido, Camarillo, CA at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Friends of the Camarillo Library or Ventura County Animal Services in Linda’s name.
