Leticia Zavala

d. April 29, 2011

Leticia Zavala, from Oxnard, California surrounded by family and friends, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2011. She was 36 years old. Born on September 24, 1974 in Port Hueneme, California to Angel and Nellie Ayala, Leticia was the older sister to Angel and Daisy. She married the love of her life, Alex Zavala, on June 21, 1997. They have three beautiful children, Justin, Jessica and Jason. In 1992, Leticia graduated from Oxnard High School and went on to attend Ventura Community College. She spent the last 7 years working for Amgen, Inc. in her role as Associate - Corporate Communications. Leticia enjoyed life and lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed her time with family more than anything, but always made time for her friends. She enjoyed outings with the girls and wine tasting trips with friends. Leticia also loved Hawaii and had planned a trip with her family before her health declined. She was involved with her children's sports and spent 2 years as the club manager, coach and recruiter for the Channel Islands Arsenal Soccer Club for her son and daughter's soccer team. She actively recruited young boys and girls for her team. Leticia was diagnosed with cervical cancer in February 2009 and endured numerous surgeries and treatments without ever losing her enthusiasm for life, her children, family, friends and community. Leticia leaves behind hundreds of loving friends and relatives, and the world is a better place for her being part of it. She was strong and her will to live, especially for her family, was stronger. She refused to give up on life without a fight. Her favorite quote: "Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending." Author unknown Jessica has requested that everyone wear a touch of blue and/or purple in honor of her mom. Alex, Justin, Jessica and Jason as well as the Ayala and Zavala families would like to thank you for your ongoing support, thoughts and prayers.
